There are two methods you can choose from to check this:
Method 1
Checking via the Icon in the Task Bar
- From the bottom right hand corner of the Task bar, identify either of these icons - Wired (Ethernet) Icon or Wireless (Wi-Fi) Icon
Only one of these will show depending on the connection type, allowing you to determine which network type is in use.
Method 2
Checking via Settings
- Open the Start Menu and select the Settings Cog on the left hand panel
- Select Network & Internet
- The middle icon underneath Network status shows the connection type
- Wi-Fi (Wireless) Connection:
- Ethernet (Wired) Connection:
