There are multiple features for messaging within Teams that are available outside of regular text:

• Format - Modify text with a wide variety of formatting tools
  
• Set Delivery Options - Add priority to messages using delivery options
  
• Attach - Attach documents or images to a message
  
• Emoji - Send an emoji by itself or with text
  
• GIF - A wide variety of GIFs can be accessed (Moderation of GIFs can be changed within settings)
  
• Sticker - Stickers can give a visual edge to a message, there are a wide variety available including customisable stickers.
  
• Stream - Send a video which has been uploaded to Microsoft Stream
  
• Praise - Has someone completed a task/job and deserves recognition - you can send a praise message to add emphasis to your message.
• Weather - You can let people know the weather in your location 
• Apps - There a multitude of other Apps available which can be used to send more informative messages, such as News, Stocks, Wikipedia.
